Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world (3812 meters above sea level) and with 8,562 km² of surface -of which 56% corresponds to Peru and the remaining 44% to Bolivia- occupies the 19th position in the world ranking in terms of territory . In the different places that we can visit in the surroundings of this majestic lake we can find an amazing conjunction of dream landscapes, living culture, ancestral history, unique customs and lifestyles that originated thousands of years ago in an environment as special as what It is the plateau so close to the Andes mountain range.
For the different civilizations that developed in this environment (up to 6000 BC) this huge portion of water had a mystical impact on their daily life, being part of their rituals, beliefs and festivals in which they thanked for all the benefit that such a place I could give them special. In addition to being the place where the legend of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo is told, those who were the founders of the most important civilization in South America, the empire of the Incas.
To get to Puno (starting point for anyone who wants to visit the wonders offered by the sacred lake of the Incas), we have various options either by bus from the cities of Arequipa (6hrs) or Cusco (7hrs) or to get to the Inca Manco Capac airport in the city of Juliaca (1:20 from Lima) and then 1 hour drive to the capital of the Puno region.
