The coca leaf has great protein and vitamin properties such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. It has also been part of the spirituality of the indigenous peoples of the Andes. For this reason it has been attributed divinatory characteristics. Currently this "Reading of Coca" is practiced as a diagnosis in traditional Andean medicine. Within the Andean worldview, the reading of the coca leaf is in charge of the so-called Yatiris. People who, in belief, were struck by lightning or suffered from some phenomenon, usually of a natural nature, and survived.
